When should I schedule?
Please try to schedule no later than your sixth month of pregnancy. We will add your due date to our calendar, then, when the baby arrives, try to contact us soon as possible to find a day and time that work for you. We know things are crazy once baby gets here so you can call, e-mail or Facebook us to schedule your appointment. We prefer to photograph newborns between 5-10 days, but no later than two weeks. After that baby is already sleeping a little less deeply, becomes a little less bendy, and baby acne can start to flare up.
Some concerns you might have.
Your babies safety and comfort are the most important thing. Capturing an image should never put them in harm. You can see in my behind the scenes photos how some images require a composite be made so that your baby is always supported. If a baby shows signs of discomfort during a particular shot, we will stop and move on. And though you've only been with them a short while, you know them best, and you should feel free to speak up if anything makes you uncomfortable.
I wash all blankets, wraps, and props after each session.
I would also like you to know that I do have a cat that occassionally lives in my house(she prefers to be outside). And while I vacuum and dust before your appointment, people who are highly allergic may want to consider doing a home photo shoot.
If you have any other concerns, please feel free to contact me.
About Your Newborn Session
Where will my session be held?
Your session may take place either at my home studio or in your home. We do things a little differently here at PLT. My studio is also my family room, or the other way around. I have a wonderful wall of windows that lets us take beautiful natural light photos nearly any day of the year. Plus, that means you don't have to feel like you need to clean or take care of me if I came to your house. If you would feel more comfortable in your home, I do offer in home sessions with a light set-up for an additional fee.
Do I need to bring anyting?
You may want to bring a snack since you could be here a while. You are welcome to bring any accessories or items such as a special blanket or stuffed animal that you might want to include in some photos. Also, we try to get it between 80 and 85 degrees for newborns. This helps them to be more comfortable, but can be pretty warm for the rest of us. Please dress so you can be comfortable, too.
How long is my session?
Sessions can last anywhere from 2-4 hours. This way we have plenty of time to feed, snuggle and rock your baby into a nice, deep sleep.
When and how can I see my images?
Your images will be ready for you to view between two and three weeks after your appointment. You can view your gallery by going to the Proofing page and clicking on the gallery with your appointment date. You then have to enter your password which I will e-mail you when your images are ready to view.
Do I get the rights to my photos?
If you order digital images, you will receive a print release which you may need to present to your printer of choice. However, the copyright remains with Pretty Little Thing Photography, and we may use it in many ways, including, but not limited to, advertising, social media, and reproduction. By scheduling your appointment with us, you agree to these terms.
How do I order?
When you're ready to order, you may call or send me an e-mail with your choices. I will send you an invoice which you may pay with cash, check, or through PayPal. Once payment is received, your products will be ordered. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. Some specialty items may take longer.
What I really want to know is, how much will it cost?
The all important question. Newborn session fees start at $75. Your session fee is due when you book your appointment. Cake smash session fees vary from $25-$45. Most people prefer digital images, and you can get 20 images for $250. See our complete pricing list here.
