Sometimes you just have one of those sessions that yields so many favorite images. It's a process, where we keep moving and changing things, but the end result is just beautiful. It's taken me several years to learn that what I need most to succeed as a newborn photographer, is patience. I have to be willing to take the shot and make changes, and take it again. And repeat that as many times as it takes until I am not just happy, but excited about the photo I have just taken. I would say that these sessions happen most often when I get some direction from Mom and Dad, as well as their permission and willingness to do what I love.
I was so excited when Alexa's mommy called me for her newborn photos. She had so many ideas, but was willing to let me use those ideas within my style. We went very neutral, using lots of whites. We knew we were going to do some composite images, so we made sure to dress and pose her for the ones we had chosen.
Everything was very feminine so we added some denim and a blue flower to toughen her up just a smidge for Daddy. Can you guess which digital backdrop he picked out as we were scrolling through Etsy?
I knew I wanted to try this pose with mom and baby, too. We needed a little spotting from Daddy. Then, we start hearing this crackling sound. You could tell we all kind of stopped to try to figure out what it was, and then we realized she was peeing on the floor! Luckily, we could continue on to get our shot before cleaning up. It's not unusual for baby to pee or poo when we're not expecting it, but it's usually on me, not Mom and Dad!
I love the photo with Mom's veil also. Makes me wonder if that photo will be in the wedding slideshow. Or maybe she'll actually wear Mom's veil!
Grins & giggles,
